BOLTING POLICY

Lots of them, but maybe a little crusty.

PREAMBLE

Part of the Craig Fawr Woodland Trust site at Margam, situated well down and left(west) in the trees beneath the WW 2 radar installation visible on the escarpment from the M4. Faces west in dense woodland so could receive most sun in winter when tree canopy reduced.Seepage possible so at it's optimum in a dry spell.

ACCESS

Take Junction 38 on the West bound M4.

Follow the A48 into the suburb of Margam (Port Talbot).

Turn right just after the Twelve Knights pub following a sign to St Davids Church.

After about 200 m turn right (small sign for Brombil) and follow this road under the motorway.

Pass several new houses and park in a muddy lay-by on the left, next to a stream, just before the road takes a 90 degree left turn into a dead end.

Follow the asphalt road into the dead end but take the small wooden footbridge on the left which crosses an open, concrete lined, drain and then hop up a set of steps that lead steeply up into the woodland.

Follow the path over a larger footbridge and keep right following the contour of the hillside (not left following the footpath sign post and steep wooden steps).

The path quickly narrows and becomes extremely wet and muddy, but after a hundred metres opens out, the M4 is directly below at this point.

Up on the left is hummocky ground and a series of outcrops, Brombil Woods Crag is the largest of these.
