The beginners day East is this Saturday (19th May) at Box Bay, Porthcawl. We are aiming to meet at the crag at 9am and will be climbing until the afternoon.

All members are more than welcome to come along, beginner or not. If you want more information, please contact Rhys Jones via the forums or email ordinary.east@southwalesmountaineering.org.uk.

The Spring 2012 Newsletter is now out and it can be downloaded here.

The first beginners day of the year is on Saturday 21st of April 2012 at Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower, we are meeting at 0945 in the Southgate Car Park, so we can walk down to beach at 1000. The beginners day is suitable for all members, not just beginners. If you're an experienced member, who's just joined, feel free to come along to the day and get to know everyone. There will be a BBQ during the day (vegetarian food will be provided).

As we were unable to vote in a Chairman at the last AGM, the SWMC committee have co-opted Joe Gallacher as the new Chairman.

Big thanks to Joe for stepping up and taking this position on.

As a result we are now lacking an Ordinary Member West on the committee, if you're intested in this position, please get in touch.

The meets list for 2012 is below. Please note, dates could change nearer the time, a few dates are still to be confirmed, and further trips may be added as well. More details of each meet will be posted by the organiser closer to the time.

Remember - all members are encouraged to organise meets! Please speak to a member of the committee if you want help or advice on organising a meet.

We still need an organiser for the 1st Lead weekend, if you would like to help out please let a member of the committee know.

Weather permitting, the West members will be meeting on Wednesday at the carpark next to the old post office in Penmaen (map) at 17:30 to climb on Odin's Wall.
